I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend full of food and fun. I’ve decided to move these newsletters to Mondays as weekend releases have been unreliable. Plus, what better way to start your week than with a recap of last week’s top stories?
What I’m Playing
With Endwalker launching later this week, I’ve been doubling down on my FFXIV time and trying to get a few more classes leveled. I should have my MCH at 80 today and will start working on my WHM. Once the expansion hits, I’m rolling bun boi and blasting through the MSQ as fast as possible.
I got a weird itch and reinstalled Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe it’s because the wife and I have been watching Cowboy Bebop and I was craving a sci-fi game. It’s been close to a year since I last played it, so I decided to have some fun and modded it. Since getting back into it, I’m torn. I really want to like the world CD Projekt Red built, but the controls are so abysmal, it’s hard to stay immersed. everything from driving to aiming a gun is a struggle, no matter how much I adjust the controls.
The boy decided he wanted to play Dauntless again. I’m always happy to hit monsters in the face with a hammer, so I got it reinstalled. I still don’t like how they changed the progression and crafting systems with the 2.0 launch and will probably let the game collect dust until he decides he wants to play it again.
What I’m Watching
I’m almost done with Arcane and it keeps getting better and better. Aside from the gorgeous visuals, the story keeps getting better with each episode. At this point, I’m definitely interested in the world of League of Legends. May the old ones take mercy on me.
The wife and I have been enjoying Cowboy Bebop. No, it’s not 100% accurate to the anime, nor should it be. The characters (aside from Vicious and Julia) are lovable and the premise is fun and campy. No matter what reviews or fans may say, we’re enjoying it.
Midnight Mass had me extremely angry with the ending. It was a roller coaster of a ride with superb acting and compelling characters. But fuck me if it wasn’t frustrating to watch. It’s a short run and definitely binge-worthy.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is a steaming pile of shit and might be the worst movie I’ve ever had the misfortune of watching. Fan or not, avoid this one at all cost.
