Sorry for missing last week, but there really wasn’t much to publish. So, rather than clutter your inbox with nothing, I opted to skip it. The holiday decorations are up and work is steady. Life is good. I was cleared to start writing features at GameRant, and have been mining their Destiny content. Also, dummy me figured out how to make colored links. So enjoy those pretty baby blues!
What I’m Playing
Despite queue times being horrific, I managed to hit max level, get max ranked gear, and unlock flying in all the new zones for the Endwalker expansion to Final Fantasy XIV. It was a labor of love, but with that done, I’m going to walk away from XIV until they can resolve the server queues. Because sitting in front of my computer for hours just to babysit my place in line is awful.
I’ve also delved back into Cyberpunk 2077. I really want to like this game, but the controls are horrendous. I play with a controller on PC and no amount of tweaking settings has helped. As such, I’m relegated to smart guns which aim for me or melee weapons. But, a year later and the game is still a buggy mess. Cars float in the air, cats hang out underwater, and all manner of brokenness occurs. Despite that, I like the world and Keanu Reeves is carrying it for me.
What I’m Watching
We finally got around to watching Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings thanks to it finally coming to Disney+. It definitely wasn’t what I expected, but was a delight nonetheless. I had thought that I was done with superhero movies for a while, but this showed me just how wrong I was. Plus, anything with my not so secret crush, Awkwafina, is always a win.
I binged through all three seasons of FLCL. Season one is still a masterpiece and should be mandatory viewing for anyone, regardless of if they like anime or not. Season two wasn’t as bad as I remember. Season three had great character development but felt the least like FLCL. Plus, the ending was really bland.
I’ve also started watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Staring down the barrel of 15 seasons is daunting and I’m worried that it will get really repetitive. But, I’m three seasons in and listening to the companion podcast and it’s still good.
