It’s the last week before Christmas. Is all of your shopping done? Or are you like me and have an annual tradition of blowing things off until the 24th and fighting with crowds?
As the year comes to a close, I think of how far I’ve come and how grateful I am to you and those close to me for affording me this incredible opportunity. I’ve gone from working a job that literally made me want to kill myself to working my dream career with the very real possibility of making even more money. I have a great life with a wonderful partner…it’s more than I ever thought I would have. So, thank you so much for the support you’ve given me.
I’ve been reading more manga than usual this week, and I don’t really have a section for that. So, here it goes. I got caught up on Golbin Slayer which I didn’t realize I was so far behind in. As always, the characters are phenomenal, but progress is slow. I realize this is because the artist and writer have launched no less than three? side projects in that universe. One of those, Dai Katana, I started reading and found the first volume slow but enjoyable. Once I knock out volume two, I need to get caught up on Mieruko-Chan.
What I’m Playing
I’m still slogging through Cyberpunk 2077. The controls are still a problem, but I found a way to rectify the problems I had with the rest of the game. A save editor has thoroughly broken the game and it’s been sublime. Rather than deal with looking and living like a cyber hobo, my V has more money than god, all of the perks, and is able to walk through fights. What this means is that I’m able to stroll through and enjoy the story at my own pace. I’ve knocked out every side quest that I can and am making good progress through the main story, but it all feels lacking. No matter how much I want to, I’m not connecting with the characters and the story. I’ve resolved to beat it, but I’m saddened at how disappointing it is.
My recent experience with Cyberpunk 2077 and watching the second season of The Witcher led me to reinstalling The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. According to my save file, the last time I played it was March of 2020. I remember liking it but was having similar struggles with leveling and the economy as CP2077. So, of course, the logical step was to install mods until I found myself having fun. And I am having no shortage of fun. Geralt has more money than god and breezes through fights in the same fashion. Unlike Cyberpunk 2077, I’m engrossed in the world of The Witcher and am enjoying hunting monsters and taking criminals to task.
What I’m Watching
We went and saw Spider-Man: No Way Home and it was utterly phenomenal. Like I said last week, I had thought I was done with superhero movies for a while and this only proves the exact opposite. For anyone remotely interested in the character, this is a must-see film.
Always the fan of the boys behind Top Gear and The Grand Tour, whenever one of them does a spinoff series, I have to give it a shot. This time it is Jeremy Clarkson and Clarkson’s Farm. The series follows Clarkson as he takes over the farming responsibilities for his farm and the struggles along the way. As with anything else from them, it’s thoroughly enjoyable.
The Witcher has released its second season and I’m on the fence. It’s nice that they’re not doing the same bizarre way of telling the story out of order like last season. That being said, I can’t be bothered to give a shit about the mages. This is unfortunate as they make up half of the plot this season. We’ll see.
