Zero Lives - 2022/01/10
Good news everybody! I got my Discord account back! Terrible news everybody! My server is pretty much dead because of what happened. The team at Discord Support was quick to restore access to my account. Once I got back in, I went on Apology Tour 2022 and did my best to make amends to those impacted by the hack.
From there, it was a matter of rebuilding our server as I had one of my admins enact a scorched Earth policy to mitigate the spread. It gave me a chance to cut back on some of the under-utilized channels and slap a brand new theme on the whole thing.
Our FC went and formed its own server and that accounted for the bulk of the activity on our server, so things have been quiet. It’s sad, but it’s part of the price to pay for making such a stupid mistake.
I suppose it’s okay though. A big part of why I built the server and maintain it is I genuinely enjoy learning new technology and making things come to life. It’s the same with the photography program I’m using in Final Fantasy XIV. I know my photos won’t gain a lot of attention, but that’s okay. I like taking them and learning how to be better at taking them.
So, maybe there’s a lesson in that. The practice should be its own reward. Do something because you enjoy doing it and not necessarily for others. Wait, that sounds selfish. You know what? I’m just going to shut up now.
What I’m Playing
I might as well change this section to Final Fantasy XIV Week in Review. I don’t know that I played a single game outside of it and a few matches of Phasmophobia. That being said, Monster Hunter Rise comes out in a couple of days, so I’m sure to go HAM once I have that. I love swinging my big hammer and hanging out with my palico.
I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole with photography in XIV. It seems like this game keeps offering so much and when I think I’ve found it all, there’s another mine of content for me to fall down. I love taking photos and with the photo and model editor I found, I have been able to take some truly stunning shots in-game.
What I’m Watching
For family movie night, we watched Encanto. Disney continues to knock it out of the park with its animated releases. Though this one had a lot more singing than I would have liked and Abuela was a super bitch. Otherwise, it held the boy’s attention the whole way through, which is a rare feat.
We also started Big Fat Quiz of 2021 and have yet to finish it. We then need to get around to Big Fat Quiz of Everything. I’m sure we’ll get to it this week.
