Zero Lives: 2022/07/19
~ Heads will roll ~
Another week is in the bag. It looks like we’re coming out of our gaming lull and things are ramping back up. There are too many compelling games and not enough of me! Well, aside from the fact that I’m a giant fat piece of shit, as was so kindly pointed out by a friend. I suppose it is a shame I can’t apply my overabundance of girth to covering more games. I fear it is a limitation of our technology. The science just isn’t there!
What I’m Playing
I decided to treat myself to something off the wall and it may have been a mistake. PowerWash Simulator is pure nirvana. The core gameplay loop is so profoundly rewarding. Seeing the dirt get blasted away and everything literally transform into something wholly different is surreal. Throw on some music, a podcast, or an audiobook and watch the hours melt away like the grime.
A friend purchased Inside the Backrooms for us to play before I was a total dick and got us both addicted to PowerWash Simulator. I played a little bit and definitely wasn’t a fan. The movement is quite slow and while there is a sprint, the stamina meter and recovery makes it such a hassle. I imagine it makes for strategic usage when being chased, but I found it more annoying than anything else.
Additionally, the bland layout reminds me of the old Windows 95 screensaver (remember screensavers?) of navigating a maze. The gameplay is about as engaging.
What I’m Watching
Our Flag Means Death is an absolute delight, as is anything involving the incredibly talented Taika Waititi. If you’re a fan of the eccentric, pirates, or anything remotely funny, definitely give this a whirl.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie was sadly a disappointment. Way too much singing and it ultimately felt like a drawn-out regular episode rather than something worth a movie. It’s a shame as Bob’s Burgers is one of my favorite animated shows.
