Zero Lives: 2022/08/15
~ Spooky Lofi Noises ~
After having a mental crisis regarding the futility of artwork thanks to AI, I decided to give it another shot. Capcom unveiled the Juri trailer for Street Fighter VI and was retweeting a lot of artwork. I didn’t expect anything of my own to do well, but it actually garnered a lot more attention than anything else I’ve put out. Apparently, hashtags make all the difference.
I’ve certainly developed a style, but I need to get better. My work doesn’t live or breathe. It feels flat. I tried to go big and exaggerate, and it helped, but not enough. I can do better. I NEED to do better.
What I’m Playing
Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim - Nothing saps the joy out of an experience like a forced death march. As I worked through this once beloved title for the sole purpose of writing articles, the charm wore off. It wouldn’t be so bad if so much of the base game wasn’t recycled for romancing each Killer. But alas. It’s definitely worth the $10, just try and pace yourself.
Tower of Fantasy - I could never get into Genshin Impact, but Tower of Fantasy, the next big clone of the gacha juggernaut seems to be poised to take the crown. I like the design and aesthetic, but I’m still not sure about the actual game. It could be because I’ve not had much of an opportunity to actually play it. I like the concepts and hope it pans out when I can actually invest some time into it. However, I am very worried about all of the mobile features like aggressive monetization.
Tower of Waifus - This was a dumb, stupid impulse buy on a night when I went to bed far too late. It has no story, average artwork, and braindead gameplay. It’s a match-three with no soul and is overpriced at $1.99.
What I’m Watching
Breaking Bad - Saul has finally stepped in and things are about to get serious. Am I tempted to start Better Call Saul now that it’s ending? Not really. It’s the same with El Camino. Breaking Bad was such a well-contained story that I don’t see a need to expand on that universe.
