Zero Lives: 2022/09/27
~ Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub ~
The weather has finally turned and the fall chill is here. That means beanies, hoodies, and scarves. This is also the season where my mood picks up considerably.
It’s always a good time when I get to see Ghost. Or at least it should be. The only way such a magical experience could be ruined is by other people. And there were a whole lot of cunts that tried. The biggest offenders were a family of four seated directly in front of us. Mom was on her phone the entire show with full brightness and everything in light mode. Both daughters insisted on screaming at the top of their lungs for the entirety of Ghost’s set. I can still hear it.
On top of that, we’re learning that Ghost doesn’t have the best openers. This time it was Spirit Box and Carcass. Spirit Box was just a wall of noise that we couldn’t decipher any of it. Carcass was an hour of speed metal with far too many solos. I think we’ve decided that it’s best to just show up late to shows and skip the opening acts.
Otherwise, Ghost put on a phenomenal show, as always. The one criticism I will put up is that shows are very scripted. Since we saw them earlier this year, all of the jokes and beats were recycled. I will say that it was nice to see older songs like Prime Mover make it into the rotation.
The spooky season is upon us! It’s finally socially acceptable to put up Halloween decorations. Of course, stores don’t worry about what is socially acceptable as it’s the tail end of September, and Christmas stuff is already appearing. Each year we add a little more and rearrange some stuff. This year, the house is looking better than ever. Since we’re the only house that decorates for the season, we have to do a little extra.
The boy loves going to trampoline parks. While they’re a nice excuse to go out with friends and their kids, we figured it was time to bring the trampoline park to him. What ensued was hours of putting together a trampoline, realizing we did a step wrong, tearing it apart, and rebuilding it properly. Our hands still hurt from setting the springs. We’ll see if it was worth all the trouble when he sees it for the first time next weekend.
What I’m Playing
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Beta - The second weekend of the Modern Warfare II beta has come and gone. I only got a few rounds in, but enjoyed my time nonetheless. I’m excited about it, but October is an extremely busy month for me and this will likely fall on the back burner. This reminds me that I still need to beat Vanguard’s campaign.
Destiny 2 - I did it! I did it! Another weekly clan raid night and I got my Touch of Malice! I am in absolute love with this gun and how it perfectly lines up with my Warlock and Titan. I’m perpetually behind on the pinnacle grind, but am almost 1580 base on both characters.
Gundam Evolution - Technically haven’t played this yet, but do have it downloaded. I’m conflicted as it’s essentially Overwatch with Gundam. I love Gundam and the concept of Overwatch, but am terrible at competitive PvP. Will my love for giant robots overcome that? We’ll find out when I finally get time to play it.
What I’m Watching
Friday the 13th (2009) - A Friday the 13th with some actual stars. Not great, but not awful. It has some creative kills and this version of Jason is the scariest one yet with him being a woodsman survivalist instead of a zombie. He sprints! He throws axes! He cooks teens alive in sleeping bags above a campfire!
Los Espookys - It’s on HBO Max and should be mandatory viewing for everyone. Mixing comedy with the supernatural and imposing a language barrier is a near impossible hat trick to pull off, yet here we are.
What I’m Reading
DC Metal - I’m continuing down the road with the DC Metal series. The first volume is setting things up and is an absolute chore to read. Here’s hoping that volume two really picks up the pace.
