The spooky season has arrived! Expect this month to be chock full of Halloween goodies. It’s the best time of the year and I need to share that joy with you fine folks. So, put on that favorite scarf, grab a bag of the spooky Oreos, and nestle in.
The dark heart of the Night Engine has been replaced. It beats with renewed vigor and ferocity. I thought I was fine with the GTX 1060. This new GPU has shown me just how painfully wrong I was. Everything is buttery smooth and gorgeous. Now with a new monitor on the way to take advantage of these premium graphics, I’m not sure the next time my butt will leave the office.
What I’m Playing
Destiny 2 - I’m trying really hard to stay up to date on this season before Festival of the Lost hits and it’s just not happening. Work has me pulled in a bunch of different directions and even though Destiny 2 is one of my beats, I’m having a hard time staying on top of it. Though I did make a decent dent in my weekly quests and am inching ever closer to Light Level cap. We’ll see if I can get out from under the gun.
I did end up reworking my Titan yet again. I’ve gone Sentinel and while the build isn’t as complete as my previous one, it’s more viable for raid content, which is mostly why I log on right now.
Cyberpunk 2077 - After binging Cyberpunk Edgerunners over the course of two days, I was practically forced to reinstall Cyberpunk 2077. Then came the moment when I installed the unholy heart into the Night Engine and turned all the settings up to max. This is such a pretty game with an engrossing environment. Visual glitches and bugs be damned, I love this game.
I modded it so that all vendors and their items are available from any terminal. I equate this to online shopping. With the new transmog system, my V is looking slick and I am able to enjoy the world without worrying about rotating stock.
Valkyrie Elysium - Grabbed this one on PS5 to cover for work. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but I’m actually really enjoying it. It’s a terrible game for guiding as everything is plainly obvious and straightforward, but I’m still enjoying my time with it. The combat isn’t as refined as something like Nier: Automata and the story is a slow burn, but it’s still fun and very pretty to look at. The aesthetic really reminds me of Soul Calibur and that is definitely my jam.
What I’m Watching
Hocus Pocus 2 - Family movie night saw the return of the Sanderson sisters. I don’t remember much about the original, but this one…wasn’t great. The acting simply wasn’t good, every character except for the sisters and the mayor wasn’t likable, and the musical numbers didn’t fit at all. On top of that, it felt like it dragged on for an eternity. Even my wife, who was a diehard fan of the original, fell asleep while watching this one.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners - Nuoh my god. It’s so good. Seriously, everyone should watch this. The animation, the characters, the drama…it’s all so rich and compelling. I can’t recommend it highly enough. On the off chance that one of you watches it and craves more from Night City, I recommend Cyberpunk 2077 to scratch that itch.
