There’s nothing that can make one feel older than celebrating your kid’s birthday. The day before is normal and then when you realize your kid is pushing double digits, you immediately age like Matt Damon. Any weekend with the boy is a good time. He’s an awesome kid and is growing up into an equally awesome person.
Side note, anxiety is an absolute bitch. It has been derailing me hard over the course of the past week. I get so worked up that I’m exhausted, feel guilty that I’m not accomplishing anything, which gets me even more worked up, and continue in a spiral. Friday night was especially rough and this morning seeks to rival it.
I ended up going down a massive music rabbit hole thanks to a friend last night. We learned that I’m not playing bass correctly and I needed to essentially start back at square one. Then she linked me to the Dream Theater cover below and my mind was blown.
Somehow that led me to a delightful metal song about kittens. Give it a listen. You won’t regret it.
What I’m Playing
Destiny 2 - I’m neck deep in the new season and despite the community’s overall poor reception, I’m enjoying it. That’s likely due to me being a simp for Rasputin and not much else. I ran and completed the dungeon on day one, feeling comfortable with it, which is a first. I’ve dived into all three of my characters and this will likely be the first season since Warmind that I’ve done so. The Dawning is set to start this week and my favorite Iron Banner armor returns in January. For me, Destiny 2 is in a good spot, even if it’s a bit formulaic.
House Flipper - I came back to it after several weeks of not playing and quit almost immediately after starting a level. I don’t know what happened, but the magic is gone. I guess it got to the point where I simply lost interest in decorating the homes. I quickly discovered that you can dump the requested items in a room without placing them and still receive 100% completion. I don’t know, maybe it’s just the pets expansion that’s not grabbing me. We’ll come back to it when I have some more time.
Gas Station Simulator - I nabbed this as I was looking for something in a similar vein to Powerwash Simulator and House Flipper. What I got was an addiction to running a gas station in the middle of nowhere and anxiety from balancing the workload of my fictional business. Super fun and a 10/10 experience. Would have a panic attack again.
What I’m Watching
Wednesday - It’s no longer the spooky season, but we’re down to clown with the Addams family. We’ve only watched an episode, but it has promise. The only potentially off-putting aspect is all the teenage drama. But, we’ll give it a fair shake.
Back to the Outback - Family movie night took us down under in a movie that I didn’t expect to enjoy. But, I suppose that’s the theme of the flick, setting expectations based on appearances. It was a good watch for family movie night.
She Hulk: Attorney at Law - Mid-season took a twist that I wasn’t keen on and then the finale ended the show in the best possible way. Of course, I totally forgot that Daredevil made a cameo, so it was a genuine delight when he showed up. This was, by far, the best Marvel show we’ve watched, including the likes of Loki and Moon Knight.
